A Survey on Non-Contact Heart Rate Estimation from Facial Video A Survey on Non-Contact Heart Rate Estimation from Facial Video
Main Article Content
Abstract
One of the most important health parameters and a critical indicator of the physiological condition of
people is the heart rate (HR); thus, it is important to monitor. HR estimation from facial videos is a low-
cost, simple, and comfortable method; therefore, it has enjoyed great interest in recent years. In this
paper, we give a review of some public datasets used in evaluating non-contact HR estimation methods,
the parameters of HR estimating from facial video system with a set of recent studies that dealt with
them, review some of recent related reviews and surveys, and finally, the applications of non-contact HR
monitoring system by a camera. This review shows that the non-contact photoplethysmography method
attracted more interest since 2013. We can deduce that there was no general-purpose system that can fit
all types of HR-monitoring, instead, the designer can first select the usage environment, then sets the
suitable system parameters that are most fulfills the application demands.
